Hello all you dear people! It’s been years, apparently. Here are some things that have happened in my particular corner of the world:
- Divorce
- Job juggle
- Healthier headspace
- Autism. Lots of ongoing research.
- Tea. Lots of delicious tea.
- The best kids ever; two are now taller than me.
- What (in reference to the previous bullet point)?
- Asian Dramaland.
- Publishing cozy mysteries.
- There’s more to that story (in reference to the previous point).
There’s a lot more to all these bullet points. Each deserves
its own post rather than a point. Let’s start with the last, shall we?
Here’s a link to the first book of my Hearth and Hollow cozy
mystery trilogy: A Turnip for the Worse
Please go get it, enjoy it, and let me know all your thoughts. And this is what happened.
For years, I’ve wanted to write holiday-themed novellas. Stories
that were fun and whimsical, full of the spirit of the season. The sort of little
books you read curled into the corner of a couch with a cuppa, laughing a
little, loving the characters, and hoping nobody needs you until the next
chapter.
I love good, quick holiday reads. They light up my heart and make
me want to carry some of that warmth into real life. To laugh more, love more,
and enjoy the people around me.
But for a long time, I haven’t been writing. I stopped the
year before my divorce. In a roundabout way, that quiet helped me heal. I
didn’t have to make anything out of what I was feeling. I could just live
through it.
One way I knew I was beginning to heal was that I
wanted to write again. I wanted to build stories. To get to know characters and
discover what they might do when things became complicated.
Asian dramas helped bust open that door. I fell in love with
stories again, with all their humor, heartache, and wonderfully inconvenient
feelings. Eventually, my own stories started forming again too.
Then came the first hint of autumn this year, that little
nip in the air, in my lungs. Apparently, that was all the encouragement I
needed. One turnip, one murder, and one neurodivergent artist turned amateur sleuth later...
Now there’s an October book. A cozy mystery with secrets, a
little romance, and the whimsy I’ve wanted to share all these years.
And I love it.
I love writing again. I love imagining someone settling in
with a story I’ve made and finding a little comfort, a little laughter, and a
reason to turn another page. I hope you’ll find that in my Hearth and Hollow
stories.
I’m looking forward to traveling by imagination again—and
I’m so glad to have you, my readers and friends, along for the adventure.
